Video on grain oriented electrical steels in ArcelorMittal Frýdek-Místek

In order to respond to the needs of transformer manufacturers, to meet environmental targets without compromising on price, ArcelorMittal Frýdek-Místek has developed new production processes allowing to produce an intermediate class of Grain Oriented Electrical Steels (GOES).

In this video, you will discover how the production of grain-oriented steels started in the late 1950's in Frýdek-Místek. During the years, the production process improved continuously.

You will go through the different production steps and see the state-of-the-art installations we have today:

  • the decarburising annealing line,
  • the new furnaces,
  • thermo-flattening line including a new magnetic measurement
  • and the surface inspection system

The improved conventional GOES delivered to our customers allows them to have the best performance in terms of energy consumption, emissions and service life – especially for transformers that run continuously – at a very competitive cost.
