Girls' Day at ArcelorMittal Bremen

On October 24, ArcelorMittal Bremen organised a Girls’ Day for girls and young women interested in technical occupations. The plant opened its training facilities for those who are on the brink of graduating from their schools and searching for apprenticeships to start their professional careers.

One of the visitors, the 18-year-old Carina Seifert, decided to participate at ArcelorMittal Bremen’s Girls’ Day while she was visiting the career path fair “Job4u” in Oldenburg. At the fair an ArcelorMittal stand drew her attention, so she signed up to learn more about the technical occupations at our plant in Bremen. “After graduating from school, I would like to learn something technical. Other professions seem a little boring to me”, Carina says.

The high school graduate-to-be spent one day in the training facilities of ArcelorMittal Bremen to learn more about her favourite occupation, electronics technician for industrial engineering, and had a chance to solve some practical tasks. Our apprentices, Laura Martens and Daniela Schröter, accompanied Carina and answered her questions about the company and the profession of electronics technician.

On the Girls’ Day, Carina visited various departments of the training facilities in Bremen and constructed a switch off under the guidance of Laura and Daniela. What Laura and Daniela liked the best was the spirit of solidarity: “Between girls, you can speak more openly and ask all possible questions”, Laura says.
