Culture of responsibility sees Bilka purchase XCarb^® green steel certificates

Bilka, a leading supplier of roofing systems, is among the first ArcelorMittal customers in Romania to purchase XCarb^® green steel certificates. The company cultivates a culture of responsibility at all levels of the business – from the products Bilka makes to the communities in which it carries out its operations.

ArcelorMittal’s XCarb^® green steel certificates will allow Bilka to report an equivalent reduction in its Scope 3 emissions, in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. “We will pass those CO₂ savings onto our customers and to the end user,” says Horatiu Tepes. “The XCarb^® green steel certificates will help us achieve our target of reducing CO₂ emissions and provide a big competitive advantage for the business.”

Setting new standards

Around 90 percent of Bilka’s output is made from steel. Pre-painted organic coated products are at the core of Bilka’s products. Steels such as Granite^® Deep Mat, Granite^® Standard, and Granite^® Quartz are used to manufacture roofing systems, external and internal cladding, and fence slats.

Granite^® Quartz was the first premium roofing product available in Romania notes Horatiu Tepes: “Its aesthetics, excellent durability, and long warranty immediately conquered the market. Like ArcelorMittal’s XCarb^® green steel certificates, Granite^® Quartz set a new standard for premium roofing products and gave us a huge boost over the competition.”
