This month the Zinc Quenching equipment has reached one year in continuous operation at ArcelorMittal’s Avilés Galvanizing Line #1, proving its feasibility for producing a large range of hot dip galvanised products, including advanced high-strength steels for the automotive industry. During this year several productivity records have been achieved while improving product quality. The installation of the Zinc Quenching toolwas a key factor for the decision to reopen this line and this successful story has been possible thanks to the contribution of GSI Technology, supplier of the technology, and ArcelorMittal’s Operations and R&D teams.
Optimization of the system and its operation and further products development are continuing in the coming months, profiting of the good economical context and the high work load of the line.
